Qualifying Conditions

There are currently 29 qualifying conditions for the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Program. They are:

  1. Alzheimer's Disease
  2. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  3. Anxiety Disorder
  4. Autism Spectrum Disorder
  5. Cancer
  6. Crohn's Disease
  7. Damage to the Nervous Tissue of the Spinal Cord (with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity)
  8. Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder
  9. Friedreich's Ataxia
  10. Glaucoma
  11. Hepatitis C Infection currently receiving antiviral therapy
  12. HIV/AIDS
  13. Hospice Care
  14. Huntington’s disease
  15. Inclusion Body Myositis
  16. Inflammatory Autoimmune-mediated Arthritis
  17. Intractable Nausea/Vomiting
  18. Lewy Body Disease
  19. Multiple Sclerosis
  20. Obstructive Sleep Apnea
  21. Opioid Use Disorder
  22. Painful Peripheral Neuropathy
  23. Parkinson’s disease
  24. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  25. Severe Anorexia/Cachexia
  26. Severe Chronic Pain
  27. Spasmodic Torticollis (Cervical Dystonia)
  28. Spinal Muscular Atrophy
  29. Ulcerative Colitis

If your patient does not have a qualifying condition and you feel they would benefit from the medical use of cannabis, that person can petition the Medical Advisory Board to add their condition to the current list. Information on filing a petition to add a new qualifying condition can also be found on this website.
